As a leader in collaborative forest management, Seeley Lake is emerging as a success story of our time, evolving from a rural, timber-dependent community to a small town transitioning for the future. Recently released is a best-of-its-kind feasibility study funded by the Montana Department of Commerce, the Seeley Lake Community Foundation and others for developing a Nordic ski training center and outdoor recreation facility in Seeley Lake.

The Community Foundation selected air quality improvement as its highest priority for leadership in 2011. Working collaboratively with the Seelely Lake Community Council's Air Quality Committee, the goal for this public health project is to improve wintertime air quality in the Seeley Lake Elementary School neighborhood by replacing up to 25 high emission wood stoves. The project relies on formal and inform community networks to reach out personally to owners and operators of high emission stoves.
