Funding from the Seeley Lake Community Foundation

SLCF Community Grants: The SLCF makes grants (up to $2500 per org) for projects benefitting the Seeley Lake area each year. Deadline: January 31st. Learn more on our SLCF Community Grants page. If you have never received a grant from us before, we recommend you reach out to SLCF staff to chat about your proposal idea before submitting your application.

Change Your Pace Challenge: The SLCF organizes the Change Your Pace Challenge (“CYP”), a roughly month-long, community-wide campaign for giving, each June. (Our version of a ‘Giving Day’). Here’s an article on giving days in Montana we wrote in 2021 for the Pathfinder: “Giving Days and Philanthropy” Place For All column, June 3, 2021. The SLCF helps raise money for the CYP Match Fund, which benefits all participating groups (up to $5k raised per organization). All funds raised through CYP may only be used to benefit the Seeley Lake, Swan Valley, and central Big Blackfoot areas. Deadline to participate: usually around the end of April. Learn more on our CYP page.

Montana-specific resources for nonprofits

Our friends at the Montana Nonprofit Association are amazing resources for the nonprofit community in our state. Here’s a couple of our favorite things they have created:

Montana Foundation Directory: The Montana Nonprofit Association created a statewide Foundation Directory in 2021. The Montana Foundation Directory contains information from over forty active foundations funding in Montana. These foundations include community foundations, corporate giving programs and foundations, and private foundations. In addition, the Directory highlights best practices in the grant seeking and grant management arena. Download the Montana Foundation Directory from the MNA website.

Principles and Practices for Nonprofit Excellence: Created by the Montana Nonprofit Association, these helpful booklets detail widely-accepted standards and practices of nonprofits in Montana. The 36-page guide includes information on each of the 11 principles and a self-assessment booklet that provides an effective evaluation and reflection tool for nonprofit professionals. Download or order from the MNA website.
